By-election Results Confirm Conservative Fortunes

A bias can include many things but one of those things is a model of reality kept in your mind.  These models are commonly called paradigms or a worldview.  Nothing is more satisfying than having one's worldview born out by events.  You could argue this is an example of confirmation bias.  If it is then I would say that I prefer to have my worldview confirmed rather than shattered.

Monday, our views were confirmed.

Here are results from ThreeHundredEight.com:

You don't have to be a glass half full person to appreciate what actually happened.  Conservatives won their two seats no matter how you cut it.  It's a burn on the media party.  Their frantic spinning now only proves it.

Yesterday's by-election results have confirmed a few things for Conservatives.

  1. The so-called Senate Scandal, pushed hard by media and other malicious actors, is not as important as advertised.  Its a parking ticket.  A parking ticket venomously written up by nasty little pin heads with petty chips on their shoulders.
  2. The Liberals and Justin Trudeau are the primary threat to the Conservatives.  People who brush off the third party (or the "turd party" as Chretien liked to say) are deluding themselves.  Romney should be President.  Smith and Hudak should be Premiers.  Don't think any election is in the bag.  The next election is as serious as the coalition crisis of 2008 itself.
  3. Layton's NDP was a flash in the pan.  Of all the analysis, the most stark is the NDP in marked decline from 2011.  Largely ignored by the Media Party, this is the most powerful conclusion to be drawn from any of the by-election contests.  Mulcair dramatically played Matlock for the parking ticket Senate affair in parliament and where did it get him?  Down.  Thanks for wasting everyone's time angry Tom.
Of course I couldn't be happier if Conservatives had swept every riding, but realistically I'm glad to see my expectations for the by-elections fulfilled.

Our political maps are good.  The shallows and hazards are well marked.  Our course to victory is sound so long as we stay on it.

Canada Lagging Behind On Climate Change

The Climate Models have failed.  Temperature has never been linked to CO2 and now its impossible to ignore.  Other countries have taken steps away from the warmist cult but Canada is lagging behind.

China, home of the lake of toxic poison and slave labour camps, has collapsed the climate talks in Poland.  In a cynical sabotage move the worlds leading polluter led the gullible poorer nations on a walkout of Climate talks.  They are all back in the Climate talks again of course.  Once they realised that "Rich" nations are actually negative rich, or rich in nothing but debt, they all came back in hopes the negative rich nations would be even more gullible.

This comes after Poland fired the chair of climate chatter fest for not being Supportive enough of Fracking.  Poland has asserted its sovereignty and independence by advocating coal and shale gas exploration.  Energy independence is political independence for Poland who is threatened by Russia.  The energy bully can force obedience from Poland by withholding gas exports.  Fracking is very good news for Poland and its heartening to see a country standing up for itself both to the former soviet masters and the creeping fingers of the UN itself.

Elsewhere in the world Australia's parliament has voted to repeal its Carbon Tax.  Tony Abbott was given a mandate by the good and sensible Australian people to abolish the punishing green tithe.  Canadian Voters did the same when they rejected the Liberal "Green Shift" during the 2008 election.  Unfortunately Justin Trudeau's Liberals quietly want to try the insanity again.

While there are two provinces who already have irrational carbon taxes in Canada, there is some good news.  Parliamentary Secretary and rising star Paul Calandra had this to say about Australia's bold move:
“Canada applauds the decision by Prime Minister Abbott to introduce legislation to repeal Australia’s carbon tax. The Australian Prime Minister’s decision will be noticed around the world and sends an important message.
“Our government knows that carbon taxes raise the price of everything, including gas, groceries, and electricity. Prime Minister Abbott has said that, in Australia, the repeal of the carbon tax will reduce the average household’s cost of living by (in Australian dollars) $550 a year, take $200 off household power bills and $70 off gas bills.
“Our government has reduced greenhouse gas emissions while protecting and creating Canadians jobs – greenhouse gas emissions are down since 2006, and we’ve created 1 million net new jobs since the recession – and we have done this without penalising Canadian families with a carbon tax.”
The Liberal government in Ontario has lost its mind in tandem with the federal branch.  They have invited the Goreacle to help lie to Ontarians about her government's green lunacy.  Al Gore's visit will assuredly bring along the "Gore Effect."  There are as many peer reviewed papers on the Gore effect as there are linking large storms to CO2.  Rob Ford had better have the Army on speed dial because everything Gore touches turns white and fluffy.  It wasn't all bad though.  People hurt by Ontario's wind power scheme are protesting the Premier.  You can see why the Media Party only wants to talk about the Senate.

Paul Calandra's message to Australia is also one of hope for Canada.  This is an important step forward, but we need to do more on Climate Change.  Parliament should enact laws that prohibit the taxation of molecules essential to life.  Only then can we put this destructive tax ploy behind us.  Only then can Canadians breath easily that citizens and prosperity come first.

Rob Ford Vs. GSP

Last Saturday I saw a couple of tweets saying something like: "Lets see Rob Ford vs GSP."  Why not.  Lets line these two fighters up and juxtapose their character in a way Rob Ford might appreciate.

We've heard plenty about Rob Ford, so lets take a look at Georges St. Pierre first.  Here we have the longest reigning UFC World Champion in history.  He's a Canadian and he is probably the most humble champion of any sport.  GSP is a true hero and role model.

The previous fight against Nick Daiz was the biggest grossing pay per view event of all time.  I remember the class GSP showed during and after that fight that really contrasted with the challenger.  Diaz was bad mouthing him the whole time.  After the fight Diaz couldn't even look at him or speak to him, but GSP showed nothing but class.

Last Saturday GSP technically won the fight.  Two of three judges scored it 48-47 for GSP.  Almost no one else saw it that way.  Even GSP himself thought, acted and spoke as though he lost after the fight was over.  Hendricks, the challenger, may have hit harder but that isn't what judges score on.  Every move that connects is scored.  There is no value and currently no way to measure the force with which each hit connects.  Perhaps if there were wireless accelerometers in the gloves they record the force of a good hit but for now good execution is all that counts.  The only way a fight doesn't go to the judges scorecard is if one opponent is knocked out or taps out.

I can't but think that if Rob Ford had followed good advise and vanished for a couple of weeks he would still have all his powers as Mayor.

Watch how GSP handles a severe beating especially at the 2 minutes mark.  If only Rob Ford had said something like that and took off for a couple of weeks.

Instead Rob Ford is going to do it his way.  Its his decision to make.  He has the better view of his situation than I do and I hope he succeeds.  Instead of getting out of the public eye he's hosting a TV show.  He's doing interviews with everyone who wants to talk.  Good Luck!

My late Grandfather loved to play chess.   He would read books on it and play it constantly.  He would even play out momentous chess games by grand masters on his own board to learn from them.

I remember one game in particular where I made move without a lot of thought behind it.  This was the most interesting game we ever played.  My move was not the smartest move which completely took my Grandfather by surprise.  It wrecked all his plans.  None of the great players made a move like that and me being a novice forced him to change his game plan on the fly.  I still lost the game, but it was fun.

Ford's handling of his mistakes strikes me a lot like that strange move.  There is value in the wild cat move.  It tests established assumptions.  In general it is better to have the enemy reacting instead of acting.  I just hope it works.

Rob Ford could pull out an upset, or more likely he'll just lose.  I don't know how dedicated or how big Ford Nation really is.  Will Ford Nation grow or fade over the next year?  I can't predict.  I know what Rob Ford will predict but I don't think there is any plan here.  He just says and does what comes to mind.

The other day he said he wants to be Prime Minister.  'Excuse me?'  I thought.  We have now the best most competent and accomplished Prime Minister in our entire history.  We can't even get everyone on our own team to row in the same direction half the time!  How in the hell does Rob Ford think he'll manage to become Prime Minister?  (Is this before or after you become an astronaut?)  Mayor of the 4th largest city in North America is responsibility enough for now.  Turning your entire council against you is a defeat no matter how you cut it.  Political or not.

If Rob Ford is a Nation, then call me a sunshine patriot.

I want him to succeed.  I can't square his actions with my values.  People make mistakes.  People get themselves into trouble.  Some of those people can turn things around and become great once more.

Unfortunately, I have to wait and see that actually happen before I can trust him.  I gave him the benefit of the doubt when this whole crack thing started and now that I've been misled I cannot give it to him again.  Not now.  He's got to earn back that trust.  Anything less would make me into a sucker.

Popular Science Gets It Wrong On Fracking

Popular Science did a myth busting article about Fracking.  They got most of it right but the two cases where they busted myths were actually wrong.  Publishing being what it is you simply can't produce an article called "Is Fracking Safe?  The Top 10 Claims about Natural Gas Drilling" and then say each and every claim is true.  One look at the comments shows why a know nothing editor would think this way.

They quote the esteemed Senator Inhofe in Claim #4.

"[There's] never been one case -documented case- of groundwater contamination in the history of the thousands and thousands of hydraulic fracturing [wells]"
The Senator may have been talking specifically about his own state because its actually in the millions of wells.  It has been done safely for decades in North America.  The environmentalist issue with Fracking is a akin to being anti glass because glass can be sharp, except that in this analogy glass never was broken even once.

Popular Science decided the Senator is incorrect because of cases of surface spills.  I'm sorry a spill is not fracking.  You can't say a spill at the surface has anything to do with the actual fracking.  If that were true then you would have to blame the Exxon Valdez spill on fracking as well.  Yes that oil too was produced from wells that were fracked.

Spills happen.  Its same as spilling milk in your kitchen.  You could blame yourself or you could try and trace it back to fracking somehow.  Every industrial process faces the risk of a spill.  Even a maple syrup spill can contaminate ground water in the right circumstance.

The false claim that fracking contaminates drinking water is easily disproved.  Environmentalists think that fracking is the problem.  They think, or at least want you to think, that there is some new thing about fracking other than the ability to do it along the length of horizontal section of a wellbore.

To their credit Popular Science goes on to state that:
"The idea stressed by fracking critics that deep-injected fluids will migrate into groundwater is mostly false. Basic geology prevents such contamination from starting below ground. A fracture caused by the drilling process would have to extend through the several thousand feet of rock that separate deep shale gas deposits from freshwater aquifers. According to geologist Gary Lash of the State University of New York at Fredonia, the intervening layers of rock have distinct mechanical properties that would prevent the fissures from expanding a mile or more toward the surface. It would be like stacking a dozen bricks on top of each other, he says, and expecting a crack in the bottom brick to extend all the way to the top one. What's more, the fracking fluid itself, thickened with additives, is too dense to ascend upward through such a channel.
Its a great explanation.  Its like stepping on thin ice.  The pressure on your foot causes fine cracks to shoot off throughout the ice.  Environmentalists imagine that somehow the cracks in the ice would propagate into the surrounding shore or even chunks of ice lying on top of the ice that you've cracked.

How about taking a sledge hammer to the sidewalk outside?  The sidewalk would crack on the first strike, but those cracks don't continue into the ground and right up the side of your house.  Its the same with fracking except we are talking about cracks deeper than Mount Assiniboine is tall.  You are now smarter than David Suzuki.

The other claim is # 7 and it concerns a botched cement job.  Here is the picture they show in Popular Science.  (not to scale!)

The red line shows the path of methane into ground water as a result of a poor cement job.  The operating company is liable for sloppy work in the same way a construction company is liable for an unsafe bridge.  Something similar happened in the BP disaster a couple of years ago.  Again it has nothing at all to do with fracking.

This problem is the result of sloppy drilling.  A poorly cemented well is at risk if the well is fracked or not.  These drilling techniques have been in use for a century.  There is no excuse and no tolerance for this kind of screw up which is completely independent of fracking.

The same problem can occur when drilling for Hydrocarbons, Uranium, Potash, water, or even Geo-Thermal energy.  David Suzuki supports Geo-thermal and therefore Suzuki is fine with the minuscule risk of a botched well construction.

If you like winning arguments with brainless leftard eco-nuts, fracking is the subject for you.  Every one of their objections to fracking can only be argued from the point of ignorance.

I am not paid to tell you any of this.  I do it because I want my country to grow and prosper.  My child should have the same optimistic and bountiful future that we all were blessed with.

Right now, I can look out my kitchen window and see a drilling rig gloriously steaming away in the brisk winter sunshine.  I get nothing from my local drilling rig other than a deep sense of satisfaction.  Let's replace NIMBY with PIMBY: Please In My Back Yard.  Eastern provinces have access to shale gas as well.  While there is no shortage of gas I still want to spread this bounty far and wide.

Oil is found in the minds of men.  Find the treasure in your mind.

A Threat To The Species

The amount of scientific and industrial illiteracy in so-called mainstream media is staggering some times.

Take CBC for example.  Their best news program is the Lang and O'Leary Exchange.  I watch it regularly as they cover stories that are actually important and O'Leary is always entertaining.

Not too long ago Dianne Buckner was hosting for Amanda Lang and she got into it Kevin O'Leary about climate change once again.  It was the standard argument, but at one point Buckner stated that climate change was a "threat to the species!"

Hold on.  How so?  Dianne Buckner is a very smart cookie.  How does she go and say something ridiculous on air like that and get away with it?  The Human Species survived the Ice Ages with nothing more than sticks and pelts.  Civilization flourished during the Roman Warm Period and at least the Arabs did well during the Medieval Climate Optimum. It was warmer than today in both instances.  How is climate change in either direction going to threaten our species?

She has obviously had this idea drilled into her mind over several years.  Its not just her either.  People hear nonsense like climate change is a threat to humanity and don't think twice.  This is the product of social engineering.  People have been socially engineered to except it as dogma and call people who don't agree all sorts of names. The names hurt far less than the fact that smart people will not apply a tiny bit of logic to their accepted wisdom.

Its a dangerous thing too.  Think of the evil done in the name of national security.  How about the evil done in the name of God?  Incredible evil can be done in the name of the species.  Now here we have environmentalists training smart people to think that their destructive tax and obstruction schemes are for the good of the species.  Nuts.

People need to be challenged on these nonsense axioms.  I recommend doing so gently.  Nobody likes to find out they are being stupid.  Reserve your contempt for the people who are terminally so.

Ford Escort

Has anyone considered what happens to this woman if she is not an escort?
Jennifer Gordon (whose back is to the camera) and some friends ran into Mayor Rob Ford coming along a street near the Esplanade on St. Patrick's Day last year. Allegations have come out about his behaviour that night.

I read somewhere that her mom says she isn't.  She'll never be able to do much else now regardless.  Just another casualty in the carpet bombing of Rob Ford.  Nothing will stand between the grand city of Toronto and her proud dignity.  Not the Ford family and not random people in random photos.

Is she a prostitute?  I have no idea really.  Maybe she was another extortion setup like the crack video itself.

Ever seen the movie Trading Places?  Its a classic Christmas movie though its been buried since Obama became president.  In it, these old rich guys decide to totally ruin and destroy the life of a man played by Dan Akroyd.  They do everything to him.  They frame him as a thief, plant drugs on him, even send a prostitute out to embarrass him in front of his fiancé.  (at the same time they elevate Eddie Murphy making it a double fish out of water Christmas story)  At least some of the Rob Ford story is like that.

The video seen around the world of Ford in a drunken stupor seeming to make threats was actually him doing a wrestler impression around the time he was arm wrestling Hulk Hogan.  All is fair against Rob Ford I suppose (until he throws himself from his office window).  But this escort business could potentially destroy both his family and some random woman's life.

Giving Rob Ford the benefit of the doubt has had worse than expected results.  Suddenly every allegation is plausible.  He's already admitted to smoking pot, crack and drunk driving.  Why not paying for sex?

This is what lost trust can do.  This is what "my word is my bond" is all about.  One lie and now nothing can be trusted.

Yet he fights on.  His tenacity is admirable.  He wants the job and the ridicule of an entire world will not make him give it up.  Instead of counselling he's doing a TV show.

Its unprecedented.  This is unknown political territory.  I can't predict the outcome of the Rob Ford saga.  Odds are that the train wreck will continue, but no embattled politician has ever been given a show before.

I can't in good conscience support Rob Ford for any public office.  -but I also can't help cheering for him.   I hope he can battle his vices as hard as he battles to keep his job.

Canada Should Obtain Nuclear Weapons

I understand the small politics that will undermine Canada's national security.  This post is not concerned with what we will do but what we should do.

As we wallow in our media induced self loathing the world doesn't cease to turn.  The shadows are gathering and lengthening as the post American night approaches.

In response to Iran's nuclear capability Saudi Arabia has reportedly sought nuclear weapons from Pakistan.  I believe this is the Saudi way of easing into the position of being a nuclear power.  The idea that nuclear weapons are on order isn't credible.  Look at a map and see what is smack in between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.  Iran isn't going to let a nuclear weapon that could be used against them just float past.  Saudi Arabia has the weapons now.  They wouldn't have said anything at all if they didn't have one already.

Why is this happening?  America is weak.  Its not just about its weak and untrustworthy president.  Its military is weak.  Its economy is weak.  America seems as likely to turn on its allies as it is to surrender the field to its enemies.  Who can rely on American power for protection today?

The Saudis certainly don't feel secure with American friendship and neither should we.

The decision by the US President to indefinitely delay the Keystone XL pipeline is effectively the same as a cancellation.  An enormous consumer of oil, this move highlights the irrational nature of that government to follow a philosophy of cutting off their nose to spite their face.  They lie to and spy on their own people, so we should expect no better.

Can we expect them to defend us from aggression?  What could we do if they decided to take a piece of Canada for themselves?  Lets say Southern Ontario below the 49th parallel?  Just a small piece.  They still half joke about doing just that.  They could make up any justification.  Global Warming can be drafted to excuse any dastardly action for example.  Perhaps we would become Poland in a World War 3 at best.

The way to use a nuclear weapon is simply to have them, not detonate them.  The idea being that any aggression towards Canada would hurt the aggressor far more than anything they could possibly gain from it.  We can be sure that America isn't going to punish anybody on our behalf.

In a way nuclear weapons are a bit like gold.  You don't have to spend it, just have it.  The mere fact that you have gold in the vault allows you to issue paper backed by it.  A nuclear weapon in our vault would give significant backing to our diplomatic currency.  Canada's value as an eternal entity would further solidify.  India and Pakistan have managed to avoid using them on each other, so I'm sure we can manage these devices safely ourselves.

With more and more dubious actors like Iran and North Korea in possession of nuclear weapons and our old nuclear ally the United States generally degrading in almost every way, Canada should at least consider becoming a nuclear power.

We've had it easy during the American century.  Our foreign adventures of the past seem to have been a kind of trading of favors.  We help you now and you help us later.  We can't expect that to be honoured indefinitely.  Canada needs to start thinking about looking after its own security.

Thank You Brad Wall. Abolish The Senate.

Brad Wall moved to abolish the senate today.  He explains it best:

Thank you Honorable Brad Wall.  You are the leader of the West and someone I would be very comfortable with as Prime Minister.  Best of luck to you and all of us.  May we abolish the Senate and have sober second hindsight by 2020.

Alberta Progressives Suck The Life From Taxpayers

In October Doug Griffiths went to PEI and gave a speech telling people that the oil industry "sucks the life out every other aspect of Alberta."

Did you misunderstand him?  Of course not.  We understood just fine.  Everyone knows that Alberta's job prospects at 4.3% unemployment are a worker's market.  This can only be bad if you want workers more desperate for work and to pay them less.  Who's life is getting "sucked out" here?  The booming business owner making money hand over fist? They have to treat their employees well or they are gone?  How sad for them.

Doug thinks you heard him wrong though.  So Doug is going to clarify with:

"It's very difficult to hire people in hotels and restaurants or in arts and culture because they can't compete with the wages, which damages the other parts of your economy.

"It's better to have balance. And, you know, it happens to any community where one industry is dominant.

"Then when it's gone, you have nothing left."

This is what goes on in the heads of your elected government in Alberta.  He noticed he said something wrong so he calls it a Wildrose "smear" and then goes and says it again.

Excuse me Minister Griffiths but extra people making extra money in our province is an inherently good thing.  The Oil Industry pays well.  Other companies and even the government also have to pay well in order to stay competitive.  They find ingenious ways to keep people that don't involve just money.  Employers are making the workplace a joy to be in and providing every other type perk and benefit you could ask for.  To Doug Griffiths this "damages your economy."

Why does this man have anything at all to do with our economy?  He's sees some of the best aspects of it as a detriment.  Up is down and down is up with progressives.  They have nothing to do with progress.

There is more oil in the oil sands alone than all of the oil used by mankind to date.  Don't you worry your empty little head about the oil Doug.  You worry about the deficit.  What will you PCs do when the Sustainability Fund is gone and you've left us with nothing?

I have a feeling the answer will be a life sucking PST.  The PC Party sucks the life out of Alberta.

ROB FORD MAYOR Episode XVIII

I can't say I support Rob Ford without actually supporting him.  By that I mean its time to see someone about your addiction problem Mr. Ford.

The difference between addiction and casual use is that the addiction takes precedence over your own life.  An addicted person will purposefully make mistakes that degrade their quality of life to fill an irrational need.  Each mistake is cumulative and can for a time be balanced out with productive activity and the stored wealth of previous years of productive work.  Eventually though the balance is lost and an uncontrolled addiction will lead to a poor and lonely death.

I don't want this for Rob Ford.  I don't think anybody does.

Wouldn't the Mayor have loved to be laughing and carrying on yesterday instead of apologizing?  Wouldn't he have loved to have proved all those vicious a-holes wrong and become a long adored legendary Mayor of Toronto?

He would have been like Winston Churchill (who also had his vices and enemies).  His round figure would have strode the streets of Toronto in bronze forever.

Instead Rob Ford put a match to himself that nobody on the left could have arranged better.  These are the actions of an addict.

I don't think he should resign.  I think he needs help.

The drug war is useless.  It does not prevent addiction and it does not reduce crime.  I have no evidence Mayor Ford has done anything morally wrong.  When the Mayor publicly declares he's "smoked a lot" of pot, I believe him and appreciate his admission.  There are a great many people who will never admit as much for as long as they live.  Which is the better person: the fraudulent saints or the honest sinner?

If anything Rob Ford's substance abuse has exposed hypocrisy on both the left and the right.  One cannot simultaneously hold that Rob Ford's drug use is reprehensible while at the same time lauding Trudeau for it.  Equally hypocritical is the exact opposite; those who support Rob Ford and condemn Justin Trudeau.  When it comes to drugs the only consistent positions are to either forgive Rob Ford and Justin Trudeau or revile them both.

I support Rob Ford.  I'm concerned for Rob Fords health and well being due to his obvious addiction(s).  I know some good hard working professional people who pay their taxes and follow the law but for the irrational drug laws.  All of those people quit using drugs when their employers began drug testing.  They don't agree with prohibition but obviously if they want the job with the big money they have a choice to make.  Addicts are people who can't control these choices.

Rob Ford was well aware of the perils of the drug users lifestyle in his position as Mayor of Toronto.  I've already forgiven his drug use and drunkenness problems.  The necessary condition, for his own wellness, is to insist on some sort of addiction counselling.  Everyone loves a rise and fall story especially if they can rise again.  Make the comeback Mayor Ford.

Update:  Rob Ford has admitted to using crack. Lying is morally wrong but he has apologized for that too.  He doesn't admit to being an addict which can only mean more addict behavior.  My conditional forgiveness stands.  Seek help or you are sure to disappoint us again.

The Dog That Caught The Car

Well Done CPC!  Well Done PM Harper.  Well done everyone.
  1. EU Free Trade Deal
  2. End of Long Gun Registry
  3. Getting Canada out of Recession
  4. Stopping the Coalition
  5. Strengthened Military
  6. Strengthened Laws
Great!

So what now?  Its a question I've been wondering for a long time now.  Years have gone by since the minority times.  I always trusted that the big brains in the high halls had some kind of plan.

Its not that they weren't busy.  The EU Trade Deal took years of work to put together and it will take a few more years yet.  It's also a little boring not to mention practically in the bag.  People overwhelmingly support the deal.  There is so much support that even the usual liars are lying about supporting it.

Yawn.  The Base is bored.  We are the Dog that caught the car.  We want the thrill of the heroic challenges we faced down in the past.  We want to do the impossible again.

In the absence of monumental goals what has filled the vacuum?  Senators and their chronic attendant scandals.  (if there was a 'spit in disgust' punctuation mark I would put it here.)  Like a creeping deadly mold the Senate corrupts all it touches.  That institution has resisted change for over a century.

Let's take down the Senate.  Lets do the impossible again and change the Senate forever.

In fact here is a list of desirable and impossible things the Party can get to work on:

  1. Reform the Senate
  2. Sell the CBC
  3. End all supply management
  4. Make a Taxpayer Bill of Rights
    • No combination of governments may require a summation of taxes over 50% of any person's income,
    • May not tax naturally occurring molecules essential to life (a life tax)
  5. A National Energy Corridor Act
    • to join all 3 coasts in specifically zoned energy corridors to facilitate the unimpeded transport of all forms of energy
  6. Legalize Private Health Care

I'm leaving 7 blank.  What would you like to see?

The key thing is that the government needs to get on with it.  Make some waves and take some risks.  We don't need to wait for the election.  We won the election already.  Do it now.

Its ironic that being paralyzed in fear of the next election increases the chance of losing it.  Elections are unpredictable things.  No one should harbor any illusions of the real possibility of losing the next one.

Carpe Diem.

Conservative Party Convention 2013 Keynote Speech by Prime Minister Stephen Harper

Watch it again right here.

The world's best leader today and Canada's best Prime Minister ever!  Go Canada! Go Harper!

Obama should spy on the Pope MORE

I disagree with Rand Paul.  Obama should listen to every word the Pope says.  Obama should spend every waking minute studying Pope Francis.

Rand Paul says "I don’t see any advantage to spying on a religious leader."  A religious leader is just another person and people generally shouldn't be spied on without cause.

Obama has a cause.  The President sucks. Nothing he knows is good, and so nothing he does is right.  What Obama has done wrong this time is fail to study the Pope enough.  He probably just paid one of his spooks to do it for him.

Rand Paul goes on to say that spying on the Pope is not in the National Interest of the US.  Normally yes, but for Obama it's vitally important for his nation that he study the Pope and perhaps more good people.  If Obama only listened to the Pope instead of Saul Alinsky the US and the world would be in a much better place than it is today.

Unfortunately, if Obama wanted to go to confession it would require a similar sized commitment on the Pope's part.

Sober Second Thoughts

I've tuned out the whole Senate debacle.  I just won't click on anything to do with it.  I'm sick of it.  I'd rather do something else; anything else.

That is why I came upon this clip from Ezra Levant's show so late.  Sometimes I just let the Sun News clips stream one after the other and this one came up on its own.

What do I know at this point?
  1. The Media Party cannot be trusted.
  2. The Senate must be reformed.
  3. Stephen Harper isn't perfect and still the best Prime Minister ever.
Did I miss anything?

CETA details get their first look and guess who is grumpy?

It's pleasing to see details of the CETA agreement begin to emerge.  Already there are complaints from the dairy people.  There are a few terms like Feta cheese and Asiago cheese that are region specific to the EU.  (The document presented by Ed Fast is embedded below.  I don't actually see what the dairy people are talking about.)

Seems like some are determined to be the losers in CETA.  There might even be some government handouts for failure as a part of this deal.  Talk about aiming low.  The dairy people say they shouldn't have to put "imitation" or  hyphenated "like" as in "Feta-like" cheese on their labels.

Is this just whine and cheese?  How about "Real Canadian Feta Cheese," or "Aziago Cheese" spelled with a Canadian letter Zed?  It doesn't take a cheese marketing genius to figure out how to deal with it.

Meanwhile there is quality and price to think about.  It would be natural to pick the Greek Feta to put in your Greek salad if all else was equal.  So don't let things be equal.  Get off your whining protected butts and go kick theirs.

Russian Vodka is not the best Vodka even though they practically live off the stuff.  Beat the Greeks at their own game.  Put black olives in it or something.  You're the cheese people.  Greeks invented Western Civilization and they are hardly the best example of it.  It can be done.

That goes for the rest of them too.  We've got the better part of a continent at our disposal.  We've got an educated and able population.  What we don't need is loser talk from entitled legacy groups like The Dairy Farmers of Canada.  Let's hear more about how your are going to invade and conquer these new markets and less about how much you think you suck.  Forget your old purpose.  The dairy business needs champs not whiners.  There's no room for self-fulfilling prophecies.  Time to adapt and take on the future.

A Bright Vision For Alberta

Wildrose Leader Danielle Smith's Keynote Speech at the 2013 AGM.

An inspiring address from an inspiring leader.  There is no question who represents the best of what Alberta is and what it can be.

Freeing The Press

If there is one time honoured image that represents truth suppression and censorship its the hand over the camera shot.

The image above was captured while the woman attached to the stifling hand says "your organisations has really...[exposed us]."  I want them exposed.  If there is nothing to hide then the best thing they can do is let the situation speak for itself.  They can't allow us to see.

Fracking is a false concern that falls apart under the slightest scrutiny.  Exploring for Natural Gas would undoubtedly help this dysfunctional and gullible Native Band.  The pseudo-environmentalists behind this violence actually put racism into practice when they exploit these natives for their own agenda.

It really bothers me when people cover up cameras.  They aren't blocking Sun News.  They are blocking you and me.  I'm the one who wants to see what they are doing and saying.  I'm the one wants to know who they are and what their plans, motives, and backers are all about.

That hand you see up there is a hand over your own face.  They don't have the right.  We will not be forcefully kept ignorant.  We do not submit to thuggish intimidation.

To this end I support covert means of investigation.  Allow me humbly suggest a couple of options for gathering information.
  • Drones: A standoff tool like a flying camera is perfect for safe exposition of hostile actions.  relatively inexpensive compared to a helicopter.  They cannot be ordered out of the local air space until its too late.  I would only recommend deploying these during a violent confrontation.  I don't think a constant watch would be productive until the moment eyes in the sky become valuable.
  • Hidden Cameras:  They can't seize what they can't see.  We will see it all.  Eventually they will catch on and start randomly searching people... all caught on film of course.  You may want to consider broken or old branded TV cameras to focus attention and distract from unobtrusive infiltrators.  It might raise suspicion if crews showed up without their tools.
The this video shows Chris Sims racing away and recording the violent thugs on her cell phone.  An appropriate cell phone holder could be rigged up like a dash cam and transmit real time video through simple a program like Skype or Face Time.  (Were the dash cams of the burned RCMP cruisers recovered?) This is how the underdog journalists who are driven by the truth should start to think.  You don't have to play by the old tactics.  You can leverage existing technology to run circles around the Luddites.

Of course the violence displayed by the thugs gives me pause in these suggestions.  Chris Sims is a mother of two.  None of this is worth making some orphans.  Some coddling judge could conceivably give the would-be murderer a few hours of community service and a cash bonus in this screwed up legal system.  Be safe above all, but you don't have to stick to traditional methods.   Leave that to the Media Party collaborators.

"Go Pound Sand!"

My feelings exactly, though I would say "Go pound sand please".

Listen to Glenn Beck's reaction to the Saudi's threat to cut ties with the US unless they attack Syria.

It's funny to imagine Obama consider that ultimatum.  We know he wants to go to war with Syria but doing so now would have certain "Yes Master" to it.

He can just ignore them though.  The heads of Saudi royals would end up on Islamist spikes inside of a year without US support.

This is why I say please.  Interesting times.

Noble Cause Corruption and Greenmail

I smell another great documentary in the making.  Phellim McAleer writes in the New York Post that Chevron is taking the Eco-nuts behind the movie 'Crude' to court for civil-racketeering.  It's been called "greenmail".

Apparently Chevron secured a court order for some 500 hours of cutting room footage from this movie.  The filmmakers have been caught boasting about intimidating and humiliating judges.  They are also seen complaining about the lack of pollution and devising schemes to exaggerate the extent of pollution in Ecuador.

The environmentalists are also accused of forging signatures on false reports, paying experts to allow them to ghost write reports, and bribing judges outright.

James Delingpole is also writing about the green extortion racket surrounding this movie.  He touches on the fascinating topic of what he calls Noble Cause Corruption.  It is the answer to the question of why so many people sacrifice their own integrity in telling environmental lies.  They tell themselves that their cause is 'The Greatest Threat Known To Mankind' thus excusing them from telling the truth and any other ethical or moral considerations.

I've noticed this myself, though I called it Social Engineering License.  Its like poetic license.  They have special permission due to the importance of their cause to bend and stretch the truth.  The rest of us just aren't smart enough to see the danger so its ok for them make up whatever kind of fire and brimstone story that all the dummies will understand.

It even works on some of those dummies.  They can't conceive that an environmentalist would lie to them.  Somehow these eco-nuts are pure and incorruptible.  Enviro-activists are supposedly free of the human frailties that have corrupted police, teachers, politicians, clergy, scout leaders, judges, hockey coaches, you name it.  All of these have had tragic episodes of misplaced trust, and yet its unbelievable that eco-nuts would do something as 'harmless' as lie about the 'enemies of all life?'

Here now we have an example of just that.  In the same spirit as Climategate and Gasland we have another eco-fraud to the tune of $19 billion.  I'm going to enjoy this case.

Duffy Goes Nuclear

Have you read Duffy's speech?  This is the best he could do with all that threatening from his lawyer.

It's good to know that I'm the problem in all of this.  Sitting in my little home, surrounded by my little family, my little dog, living my little life, writing this little blog to do what little I can to make this big country just a little better; I find out that its me who is the problem.

According to Duffy's hearsay "it’s about the perception of what you did that has been created in the media. The rules are inexplicable to our base."  Its not exactly clear but I think he means to say that Harper said these words to Duffy.  All of it hearsay and impossible to prove.

Duffy has done nothing wrong in his view.  Fraudulent expense claims are his entitled right as a Senator.  It's us, and our Prime Minister that are the problem according to Senator Duffy.  Why I didn't understand what a privilege it was to pay the magnificent Senator Duffy for not living in a certain house in PEI.  What an ignorant rube I am.  I do hope the good Senator will deign to accept our apology and of course horrendous amounts of money.

The line "The rules are inexplicable to our base," is interesting to me.  Harper said publicly that he did not come to Ottawa to make excuses for Senators.  Of course not.  We didn't send him there for that either.  I would not sit and listen to Duffy try to explain away his abuse of public money let alone Stephen Harper of all people.

Perhaps Duffy has edited that line in his mind over time.  This happens to some older men especially ones under so much stress as he said.  Duffy is also experiencing health issues as well that may not exclude mental health issues.  Perhaps he was told the Senate rules are indefensible for surely they are indeed indefensible to the public.  Remember he believes there is nothing at all wrong with expense fraud, so it isn't out of the question.

I'm also being told that I should be angry with my Prime Minister because he seeks to please "the base."  Would the correct thing for him to do is say "yeah those idiots just don't get that we rule and we make the rules and they should just sit down, shut up and pay us."  That's not Stephen Harper and I'm glad its not.  I'm glad this Prime Minister cares what I think even if Senators are beyond the reach of a corrective vote.

None of this might even be true, but even in the worst light Duffy can't make the Prime Minister into something he is not.  Even "the base" doesn't seem right.  Surely the Media Party is mutually exclusive to "the base" and yet they both agree that Duffy's expense claims are a problem.  The fact is that even if this is all true the motivation of the Prime Minister is to express the will of Canadians, not just "the base."

Senator Duffy embodies everything that is wrong with the Senate.  That is the remorseless gorging on entitlements outside "the power" of ordinary Canadians to do anything about it.  If this is within the rules then the rules are wrong.  The Senate itself is wrong.  "Those are the rules," holds very little water with people paying the bill.  This is our country.  These are our laws.  We have the natural right to change any one of them.  We have the power to disband the Senate itself if we chose to unambiguously determine it through a National Referendum.

Woe unto those who stand in the way of the peoples self determination.  There have been silly laws in the past that have been wisely retired for the greater sake of peace order and good government.  The Senate inches closer to a transformation of some kind each day.

I hope the Senate decides to suspend Duffy for everyone's sake.  He does not recognize any wrongdoing. He will therefore keep on doing it and encourage this behavior in others.  This can only negatively impact the Senate's already damaged reputation with Canadians and further weaken its diminished authority.

The NDP Hidden Agenda

So the NDP is completely in favor of the European Free Trade deal CETA?

I don't buy it.  I don't believe the dippers support "free" anything that wasn't taken from someone else first.

When you look at the NDP press release you see their current strategy is to wait. People are too happy about the deal to oppose it.  Even the press release itself has an overlarge image of Mr. Angry smiling so hard there seems to be a "safe injection site" on his forehead.  Boy Mulcair really loves his free trade.

Of course they are waiting for one of the special interest groups to cry foul.  When they do people like Jim Stanford, a union economist, will be there to negatively bafflegab about it.  Jim opposed corporate tax cuts in the last election.  He opposes NAFTA.  He has a sour opinion on current trade with the EU and says that: "The problem here is not trade. The problem is free trade."

It's only a matter of time before the NDP is publicly against CETA. Including the initial deception, its just who they are.

Call Duffy's Bluffy

Duffy's lawyer has made a strategic mistake.  Public blackmail doesn't work.  If his aim was to keep Mike Duffy out of a trial (or whatever), he has now guaranteed it.

What is the PMO supposed to do with that?   "Oh sorry, didn't mean it."

It would signal to everybody there is something to hide, even if there isn't.  That can't stand.  The only acceptable response now is to punish Senator Duffy as severely as possible.  Abolish the entire Senate if you have to.  In fact, please do that.

Ezra Levant is a Force of Nature

Never shy, Ezra Levant takes on the violent eco-nuts in New Brunswick.

Amazing.  Just amazing.  Nobody can stand up to the leftist thugs like Ezra Levant.

They want Ezra out of the picture.

We need to support Ezra in his free speech battle.  If anyone can turn a punishing law-fare case on its head it's him.  It could end up a real coup for the good guys.

You know that these rich PC leftist goons can come down on any one of us like a ton of bricks.  Who among us has the platform, skills, and experience that Ezra can bring to bear against these subversive forces?  Who has those kinds of resources?  We must pool our resources and knock these enemies of freedom back on their heels.

Could you put up a better fight alone?  Together with our champion Ezra Levant we can push back these offended abusers.  We can teach them once and for all that free people can only be pushed so far.

I hate being right sometimes.

Another train loaded with oil derails.
Emergency crews were battling a massive fire Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013 after a CN tanker train carrying oil and gas derailed in Gainford, Alta., west of Edmonton overnight.

Don't say I didn't warn you.  There is a direct cause for this accident we don't yet know.  Indirectly, the cause of a trains full of oil rolling night and day is Barrack Obama, Warren Buffet, and every ignorant anti-pipeline jerk you hear.

It's not that trains are unsafe because of their cargo.  It's that there are so many more of them that don't need to be there.

Brian Lilley Speaks Out On Eco-Nut Violence

What would we do without Sun News?  Here's Brian Lilley's take on the ignorance in New Brunswick:

In a way I like the anti-fracking movement.  Its much easier to disprove than the Global Warming scam and it involves all the same characters.  While global average temperatures have stopped tracking with CO2 and all the dire predictions have failed, low information leftards can still be counted on to attribute any random event to the angry gods of climate change.  You may as well tell Muslims that their God isn't so great.

Fracking is way easier.  The contention is that Fracking harms drinking water.  Well how?  This is where they are counting on the ignorance of their audience.  The anti-fracking crowd hasn't got a clue about drilling. geology, fracking or even drinking water.  I'll go into more detail in another post.  For now I'll just say that a person against fracking is a deeply ignorant human being that has been sadly led astray.

All you have to do is explain the reality that occurs hundreds of times a day on this continent.  All of it without a single instance of ground water contamination.  Not even one.  A reasonable doubter won't be able to have any disagreements once they possess the facts.  A good place to start is the movie FrackNation.  Once they wake up to the green machine that has been manipulating them about fracking, they'll begin to see the same tricks in all the other eco-hysteria.

Sun News is the only television news source that will tell us the truth about these things.  None of the the others will give you the straight goods.  Its not a conspiracy its groupthink.  They are all progressives and progressives all think they are our parents.  They shelter us from the truth in case we get scared or mad or sad... about the wrong things.

One blogger I read compared Sun News to news as McDonald's is to restaurants.  Well ok so he doesn't like Sun News or McDonald's, but for the analogy to make sense you would have specify that McDonald's is the only place in the country that sells hamburgers and all the other restaurants are vegan.

Without Sun News Chief Spends would have probably got a medal for stuffing her face and calling it a hunger strike.   Dr. Fruit Fly would still be out corrupting judges.  The police would have charged flood victims in High River who were robbed by police. A private zoo would be closed by busy bodies and foreign groups like the Tides foundation would have their run of the country targeting business and livelihoods as they go.

That is just to name a few positive changes in a world with Sun News.  Thank God for Sun News.

CNG / Gasoline Bi-fuel Cars Are The Real Transportation Future

Compressed Natural Gas and Gasoline cars are the future. GM announced they will sell CNG Impalas next summer.

Bi-Fuel Chevrolet Impala Sedan Photo by: General Motors

These new bi-fuel cars don't come with any sacrifice for the planet.  Its all bonus.  They include the standard size fuel tank plus CNG tanks.  See that?  They will go farther than a regular car and do it cheaper

Even the eco-nuts can't complain.  Natural Gas is by far the cleanest fossil fuel by any measure.  You cook your steak in it.  How bad can it be?

Don't forget the electric fueled alternative is actually a coal or nuclear powered car. --produced in unionized centers -delivered by enormous wasteful permanent scaffolds. -compulsory bundled with the expensive, unproductive, pollution wrought windmills and solar panels made by slaves.

Not that I care about any of that.  That last sounds heartless.  Nobody wants slaves or pollution anywhere,  but its all a symptom of a larger problem which won't be solved by more of that problem.  Best to fix what you can in your own life and let China mind herself.  Still it's fun to show that free market resource allocation is the best environmental and social and fiscal policy.

The biggest problem right now is the lack of fuel stations.  Since the range on the CNG tanks are relatively small it would make sense to have a home compressor installed.  All your city driving can run off your own private fuel station.

This could be the standard in 20 years.

Bi-Fuel Chevrolet Impala Sedan Photo by: General Motors

From there I could see a world where NG becomes not just a motive force for consumers but also a primary power source.  There are plans for co-generating NG furnaces.  These are furnaces that provide power and charge a household battery while making heat for your home.  You can buy a backup NG generator at Costco right now for $3,000.  Its not that far off.  This sort of technology is a matter of engineering.  The fundamentals are well understood.

Imagine if home power stations made the big ones obsolete?  Imagine the savings in transmission and overhead?  It would be a democratization of energy use with existing infrastructure.  A revolution in soft blue flame.

Harper Brings Home the Biggest Trade Deal in Canadian History

"EU free trade deal a 'historic win' for Canada, Harper says"

Well done Prime Minister!  I did not expect it so soon, even though there is still years of work to do.
Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, left, waves as he meets President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso in Brussels on Friday Oct. 18, 2013.

Personally I'm looking forward to French Wines, German Beers, Dutch Cheese, Swiss Chocolate, Portuguese Port (especially Madeira), and British uh...... Comedy?  Terrorists?  -More Beer!

We've got OIL! Try the Maple Syrup, Lumber, Beef, manufactured goods and a host of other great things.

It feels really good as a Canadian to shake off the US just as they decided to destroy themselves. Whew.

Here's to a promising future for us all.  Thanks again Harper Government.

So Lizzy, How do you say FRAUD in French?

Can we change it to Laraque if we do it for the planet?

C'mon you Apes! Did you want to govern forever?

There are no Red Tories.  There are no Green Tories. There are only True Blue Tories and right now all I want to see are Fiscally Conservative Blue Blurs!

Get out there and sign that EU Trade Treaty!  Balance the Budget!  Lower Taxes! Cut Red Tape and build some pipelines!  Move!

When did you guys plan on being the Conservative Government we've always hoped for?  -After PM Trudeau?

The time to act is now my Honorable Members.  Now!  Take some risks or you'll play it so safe and bland and stable that you'll be make a perfect opposition.  - if you're that lucky.

On with it!  Make us Proud.

No Rob Ford Video Means There Is No Rob Ford Video

Somebody is lying. That much we know for certain.

In the saga of Rob Ford's Mayorship of Toronto we have seen the unscrupulous lows of the tabloid media buttressed by the amateurish and comical missteps of the Mayor himself. The authenticity of the video purporting to show Rob Ford smoking something and allegedly making outlandish statements cannot be verified on character alone.

Both parties, media And Ford, hold opposite claims.

The Media have no credibility when attacking Rob Ford. Everyone can clearly see why they hate him. Fat. White to the point he almost looks pink. Blonde. Plain speaking. Nominally Conservative (it's the contrast with his socialist policy/tactics opponents that puts him in this category by default). These reasons alone induce the derangement syndrome we've come to expect from the media. It's easy to suppose the muck crawling tabloid media filth would willingly cooperate with criminals to take down their white whale. At the very least they would lower their standards to propagate a story like this. They came so close to nailing him in the past they are just aching to get Ford.

Rob Ford on the other hand has bumbled himself into scandals before. How anyone in his position with his enemies could allow himself to be video taped seeming to break the law is beyond stupid. It's so stupid I'm inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt. We elect people to office because we believe they would be good at it. Rob Ford has some good ideas I'm told. So what? So do I. So do you probably. I can't vote for someone who would do a worse job than me. I'm neither smart enough nor stupid enough to run for office. Could it be that Rob Ford is the only one who can put up with this much crap just to help his city? Possibly.

We have essentially no way to verify the existence of this controversial video without actually seeing it for ourselves.

Whoever is lying about the video is going to get clobbered. The liars haven't thought this through. If the video exists it will become public. It must. The value set by the holders of the video is between $100,000 - $200,000. If they don't make their target they will lower the price. This is assuming that drug dealers have some skill in deals. If they believe that the police will seize the money and them then the value of the video is zero. The only thing left to do with a worthless video is to make it public out of spite. I'm sure they can find someone to hand them $1000 in cash somewhere.

The point is that the video will find its way to the public eventually. The intersection of demand and risk will set the true price. The video will be released if it exists. Even a fake has some value. We will see it.

The liars in this story had better think on this and what it means for them. No video made public would indicate there is no video. This means either the dealers made it up for a quick payday or the journos made up the whole thing. The back seats, the cell phone, even the Somali drug dealers might just be so much random tv snow from the disconnected minds of so-called progressive hacks.

On the other hand, an authentic video is the end of Rob Ford as Mayor. The media will have slain their white whale. If they don't get him with this public video, they will end up like Captain Ahab beckoning the rest of their cohort to join them in a watery grave of bankruptcy.

ROB FORD MAYOR

"Ridiculous."

Indeed.  Toronto's Mayor Rob Ford had only that to say about the alleged "crack-cocaine" video being shopped around by Somali drug dealers.  They are looking for $200,000.

Fridge magnet Rob Ford gave me at a football game.  Collector's item?
I'd like to know how they will ever prove its crack-cocaine that he's smoking.  It's Rob Ford so it has to be the worst possible thing of course.  Can you be sure it isn't weed or tobacco or.... plutonium?

I'm inclined to believe the video could be authentic.  If so, Ford was set up to some degree by unscrupulous people.  It's not hard to imagine him taking a few hauls off of a pipe full of weed, let's say, to relive old times and maybe impress his new friends

If this is the case, I would get some verifiable drug testing done immediately.

Who knows what the truth is?  Does Rob Ford even know?  What if he's drunk and smoking pencil shavings?

The Justin Trudeau connection is a little odd too.  Funny how Junior wants to decriminalize pot but the left is going crazy that Ford is likely smoking the same thing they are.  (I say legalize and tax it)

Ford allegedly calls the little princeling a "fag" in the video after being prompted by the Somali drug dealers to make fun of Trudeau.  That's too cute.  Hard to believe these are just some politically astute foreign low lifes.  There is probably more to this little story.  There is some opportunity for the Toronto Sun here since I don't think any other paper is going to pursue the criminals at all.

Either way, the video money once collected by these drug dealers will be an offence: living off the proceeds of crime.  They are the ones claiming a crime is being committed in the video and are using it to make money.  I doubt they will be paying their the GST on the transaction either.  The money, if they get it, should be seized and these crooks should be questioned at least.  Wait for Kinsella to cough it up.

I'm not keen on these dirt bags moving to Calgary with their illegal proceeds either.  Nenshi better be awake.

Ford is one heck of a target.  Imagine Nenshi's opponents treating him even half as bad?  I bet you could get a lefty to defend Clinton's drug use and Monika dipped cigars while slamming Rob Ford's pipe-scapade in the same breath.

I'm not sure I would ever vote for him, but I do like how he makes the left crazy.  All their tolerance bull crap goes right out the window.  It's enjoyable from this distance.  What can I say.  Its like National Lampoon's Toronto Mayor.

Too bad that it looks like its all over for him.  They'll go back to some useless leftard and quiet comfort in decline.

So Junior, let's talk "root causes"

Trudeau wants to know the root causes of Jihad.  The drama teacher's education can start right here.

Bruce Thornton writes in FrontPage Mag:

This disconnect between our alleged bad behavior and the motives of the jihadists is starkly obvious in the case of the Boston terrorists. If Chechen Muslims have a beef with anyone, it’s the Russians. When jihadist terrorism became a problem in Chechnya, there were no “hearts and minds” campaigns, no solicitous outreach, no infusions of foreign aid, no apologies for past sins, no careful adherence to the laws of war, the Geneva conventions, or human rights, no courting of imams to provide insights into the wonderfulness of Islam. The Russians employed torture, assassination, group reprisals, and in the end ringed Grozny with artillery and left it in ruins. In the two Chechen wars the Russians killed around 150,000 people. In fact, Russia has been killing Muslims since the 18th century, and occupied Muslims lands in Central Asia for 80 years under the Soviet Union. So tell me, Senator Rand Paul or Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, if our foreign policy misbehavior explains jihadist hatred, how is that two centuries of Russian violence against Muslims is ignored, and all our blood and treasure spent to liberate and help Muslims count for nothing?

No more convincing are the other rationalizations for Muslim violence. Lack of education and economic opportunity exist all over the world, but African Christians and animists, or Indian Hindus and Buddhists don’t commit acts of terrorism with anywhere near the same frequency as Muslims. Plenty of people across the globe live under oppressive dictators who routinely violate human rights, and they don’t turn to terrorism against distant strangers in response. Tibetans aren’t donning suicide vests or bombing marathons. Millions and millions of impoverished everywhere don’t kill innocent people in random attacks in countries far from their homes. Every excuse for Muslim violence collapses beneath the weight of such facts. Meanwhile, the one factor all these killers––rich or poor, educated or not, politically oppressed or otherwise––have in common, Islam, is preemptively rejected as the explanation for the violence.

This “willful blindness,” as Andy McCarthy calls, has become dangerous. It reflects the arrogance of secular materialism, which has discounted religion as a mere life-style choice, usually benign––unless you’re talking about gun-toting, racist, misogynist, homophobic evangelical Christians, or racist, land-grabbing Zionist Jews. No, it’s about psychological trauma caused by globalization, or Islamophobia, or insensitive insults to Mohammed, or Israel’s oppression of Palestinians, or anything and everything other than the numerous passages in the Koran, hadiths, and 14 centuries of Islamic jurisprudence and theology, which clearly and consistently set out the doctrine of violent jihad against infidels.
(h/t Blue Knight at Blue Canada)

There it is.  Islamism is the root cause of Islamic fundamentalist terrorism.  We can ban Nazis.  We should ban Wahabism and every other hateful cult we encounter.

The thing about Shiny Pony's "route cause" comments on Tuesday was that he unconsciously thought what we all thought about the bombings.  Namely that it was Islamic Terrorism.  Would he really have wanted to explore the route causes of an insane Tea Party member or a gun control nut-bar?  No way.  Deep down even Trudeau knows the enemy.   It makes him all the more craven a pretender.

Media Party Retaliates with Attack Columns

I dispute the whole concept of Attack Ads.  The establishment punditocracy have fabricated the idea that any political ad that is critical of a rival is an attack.  It is no more an attack than any political column ever written by Andrew Coyne.

Coyne writes his opinions, and those opinions are always negative towards the Conservative Party.  In fact I don't remember him ever writing a kind word.  If he has he can't be much good at it, since nobody else remembers either.

"Attack Ads Are Political Deathstars But Their Target is Democracy" reads the title of Coyne's latest attack.  I know Attack Editors write Attack Headlines but they coordinate their attacks with Attack Hacks so that the Attack Columns shut down all thought and Democracy.

It has been widely shown that media in fact has a huge negative impact on the functioning of democracy.  They can tell a bald faced lie and then quietly correct it when no one is watching.  They do it all the time.  Think of Robocalls.  Think of Communion Wafers.  Think of Benghazi.  Think of Global Warming.  Even the Vietnam War was lost on television, not the battlefield.

I'm not saying this should change.  I'm saying that a great amount of power resides in an un-elected and unaccountable media.  They don't just act irresponsibly with this power but with outright open malice towards one side of the political spectrum in particular.

Why didn't any of these media experts notice the positive things in the ads?   Can you not say anything about your opponents in politics?  They invented the idea of Attack Ads so you think they would have a formula worked out for how negative they can be.  What is the acceptable percentage of opinions related to the opposing party should be allowed? Is it 25%?  Is 51% an official attack ad?  How would you measure this? -by the second or by the word?  Do printed words carry more weight than spoken words?  What do images count for?  What does music count for?  I found the music for the latest ads light and comical.  The music was decidedly positive beyond any doubt.  Whats so aggressive about comedy anyway?

The CPC ads weren't all that negative or even attacking really.  Mocking is the word.  But Coyne is downright nasty and purposefully so on a regular basis.

"-they are corrosive. Their intent is not merely to criticize, but to inflame. They’re not trying to provoke thought, but to shut it down."

Corrosive?  Does he read his own work? Caustic!  And where exactly did he divine the intent of the ads?  If Coyne actually does read minds he still lies about it.  He can't even imagine that the ads might have been made as amusement.  Why do people tell jokes Sour Puss?  Do you even know?

Anyway, even more grounded writers also seemed to miss the mark.

Chris Selley thinks the ads contain a lie.  Trudeau is out of context when talking about Quebec we are told.  The fact is Trudeau put words into his father's mouth as if he approved of it.  Another fact is that it doesn't matter who said it, its still a stupid thing to say.  So where then is the lie?  Trudeau Junior is constantly invoking the Senior.  Constantly!  Even his letter to the Chinese asking for temporary workers mentions it.  He is Liberal Leader because of it.  Trudeau was telling that story because he was proud of it. Or is he just stupidly trampling his father's name?

Jonathan Kay, who is sometimes friendly to the CPC, wrote about the ads too.  The gist of the article is: "Is that all you got?"  Come again?  Were you expecting the Battle of Endor?  Yub nub!  The election is 2 bloody years away.  There is plenty of material and Trudeau is a gaffe machine too. You really think Truedeau's welcome card should have been an orgasmic explosion?

Kay also says the adds are "lame."  Yes, there were no exploding spaceships and I don't think there are going to be any.  One Coalition Crisis is enough for a lifetime.  This is Canadian Politics after all and lame is actually good.  Nice and harmless.  We can all share the joke that is the Shiny Pony.

Just today we learned that Trudeau wants to get empathetic and cozy with poor murderous Boston Marathon Bomber.  At best its an unforced error.  Its what these ads are trying to tell people.  That is the intent of the ads: Jr. hasn't got a clue!

You almost get the sense he was pushed into it.  He was obliged to lead the Liberals seeing how low they are now.  Didn't his wife say it was his duty or something?  There are plenty of stories where the prince runs away to be something else.

Trudeau Jr. should have gone into entertainment.  Ben Mulroney has more sense than hapless Trudeau.  Ben knows full well that in politics he would have been in his father's large inky shadow for decades.  Shiny Pony invokes that shadow at every opportunity   Shamefully so.  There's no "did you know Ben Mulroney is former Prime Minister Mulroney's son?"  That never ever happens with the Dauphin.
